Re: eBay: Allied intrest

#1 looks like a 57 Sqn Blenheim has been mixed into the three French photos.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

All I think it is VY-P as well - So 85 Sqn machine - of course N2319 is a well known VY-P and photos of it are on the Internet - but it has a white hexagon on the fin.. So almost certainly not that one - Also the Sqn code looks like it is painted over the serial which a correspondent of mine says looks like '2-3-8-9 ; P / R'

Air Britain serials has Mark I, N2319 'VY-P' presumed lost in France May 1940

but BoFTaN has

May 17th 1940

85 SQUADRON, LILLE-SECLIN Hurricane N2319. Believed shot down in combat with Bf109s of 11.1.1G26 west of Douai 4.00 p.m. Pilot Officer P. P. Woods-Scawen baled out slightly wounded. Aircraft a write-off.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

You're right Paul, it's not N2319, even the size of the serial number is completely different on well known photo of N2319 and this one. Using photoshop I tried to read the Hurricane serial number from all my photos of VY-P and I can see Px5xx.
last two digits are rounded at the top, so could be 0,2,3,6,8,9

I think these Hurri which meet that condition are : P2535, P2538, P2563 ?
as I have in my fiels P2563 had code VY-B, P2538 was with 85 only until 10.01.1940 so Is that photo of P2535 ?

Re: eBay: Allied intrest

I feel it unlikely to be P2535

https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/136966

As pilot killed on 16th May 1940 and this is BEFOFE loss of original N2319 'VY-P' on 17th May 1940

What Andy?

How naughty....
Confess I do that basically every day to all the silliness our dear sellers manage to come up with...

Cheers
