Re: eBay: Allied intrest

A very good case in point of my e-mail regarding laughable sellers a) No it is not a "Beute Flugzeug" b) No it is not either a Yugoslav or Serbian aircraft (it is a Hungarian He 46) c) No it has not "kennung 30" (it is F.307) d) No it is not a "Doppeldecker) The seller is capable of ensuring that not a single statement in his sentence is correct. I think we all can agree that such a sentence is really "Weltklasse".... ![]() Cheers Stig |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
I'm agree with you Stig, but seller or his associates now obviously don't know such basic data. Therefore, they can't correctly recognize such aircraft and when potential buyer try to find such photos by search engine they often didn't find anything. It's paradox that in the period before 5 or 10 years ago e-bay offered lesser photo in some category but included much more in some subcategory than today. The level of knowledgde of seller now is lower than previous. It's pitty both for seller and buyer as the finding of interesting item are much difficult and it is also one of the reason why selling didn't realized.

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
newcomer,
It is apparent that seller knowledge is uneven. The expectation is that the seller should know something about what he is selling. In the present, there are no requirements aside from listing in the right category. Best regards, Ed |

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
The last one photograph of the P-51B/C wreck is interesting. It looks to be a 99FS, 332FG P-51, with the red tail, AX (A1?) Squadron code indicator and what appears to be the squadron crest for the 99th Squadron on the nose.

That does appear to be the case. Click on the top image in the link to enlarge:

Re: eBay: Allied intrest
The P-38 in #1995 appears to be a P-38J , s/n 42-104105, 37th FS, 14th FG that crash landed on Hungarian soil on August22, 1944. There is another photo of the other side of this A/C; see : https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...epan_11085.jpg
Unfortunately, there is no indication of this airplane in Joe Baugher's list nor in the usual MACR list. Based on the date of August 22,1944, the A/C pilot appears to be Lt. Mitchell S. Cwiek, 37th FS POW on this date., since this is the only POW listed on this date in the book "14th Fighter Group in WWII" |
