this is probably Hawker Hurricane Mk. IIB BD857 from 247. SQ (squadron code fit) . Shot down by flak over Morlaix - Sgt. Murphy missing.

Thinking out load. The Hurricane P-HP looks like it is all in one color, black??. Serial number is same color as the codes not black which make me think it is black as other night fighter/intruder aircraft had before they went with the red.

...but I think, that this black camo is mainly from year 1942, this Hurry was lost 28.8.1941 and SQ receive this plabe cca 2 weeks before.

Another photo of Hurricane from this SQ - dated in 1941, looks similar and I don´t think, that this plane is in black camo:

I think there was something in an old airfix magazine or ducimus C&M book ? about 247Sqn 'experimenting' using other colours than black as an overall colour
( from memory i think one of the colours mentioed might have been dark green )
before the official ' intruder colours' came in.
