SSgt Jack E. Radican, 436th TCG, 82nd TCS, C-47 radio operator

Jack was assigned to the 82nd Troop Carrier Squadron, 436th Troop Carrier Group in August 1944 where he was stationed at Membury airfield (AAF-466). His baptism of fire came on the 17th of September when he flew the paradrop mission for Op Market Garden. The following days saw do at least one glider town into Holland. For the remainder of 1944, he flew numerous supply runs into the ETO including the aerial resupply missions over Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.
In February 1945, the 436th TCG moved to Melun airfield in France and a month later, on the 24th of March, Jack participated in Op Varsity, the crossing of the Rhine where the 436th conducted a double glider tow.
After the war, Jack became a teacher in San Diego which he did until his retirement.
