Messerschmitt 110C-2 CF+NK W.Nr.3070
Hi looking to clarify any unit service or loss detail for W.Nr.3070.
I have a poor scan from a number of years ago from an EBay sale showing this a/c coded with a white D after the Balkenkreuz and a note indicating it being from 1/ZG76 probably at Jever winter 1939-40. Could this be one of Lt.Helmut Lent's a/c? Best regs, Steve. |

I have a number of photos of a number of different M8+DHs flown by Lent. Trouble is his logbook doesn't list Wk Nr

Re: Messerschmitt 110C-2 CF+NK W.Nr.3070
Hi Chris thanks for your message.
I've just got Helmut Lent's flugbuch and along with others from ZG76 I'm updating my records. I came across this scan and thought I'd try and clarify the unit as it doesn't show the units designated M8 code letters. I have at least two M8+DH coded a/c ,one being Me110D-O W.Nr 3168 probably flown on 15.8.40 to the North East of England. Your quite right that Lent didn't record W.Nr's in the flugbuch. Best regs, Steve. Last edited by steve sheridan; 22nd May 2023 at 11:38. Reason: Mixed up with Up Kettling's a/c! |

He was flying +DH when he crash-landed on 9 Sep 39 and 9 Apr 40. 3155 was +CH not +DH. If you want more on I./ZG 76, I have quite a bit including photos albums and am in touch with Lent's daughter

Re: Messerschmitt 110C-2 CF+NK W.Nr.3070
Thank you Chris , from memory I mixed up Ul Kettlings a/c lost that day but I have edited that post!
I'd be very interested in anything related to ZG76 for 1939-40. From previous correspondence with you I understand you don't have Ul Kettlings flugbuch for this period, was it only training flights you had? Be curious to know if you have any other flugbuch copies for ZG76. Best regs, Steve. |

I have Kettling's photos, photo albums, medals and even his pilot's watch. Yes, just is pre-Sep 39 FB. The only other logbook I have is Jaeger's. Lent's daughter would love to know where scans of this FB came from as she believed I was the only person she loaned all of his FB! I know that the late Larry Hickey had a copy

Great shame his operational flights in the missing logbook have not survived,
I wonder what happened to that. I have Hans Jager's flugbuch also Chris. Lents flugbuch came from a regular contributor and has been a great source of information. Best regs, Steve. |
