Luftwaffe/USAAF claim on 18/19 July 1944 in Normandy/Britain
Hello,
Halifax LL387 of 138 Squadron never returned from a SOE mission on the night 18 to 19 July 1944. At his return from the mission, LL387 would have crashed in the sea off St-Pair-sur-mer just near to Granville (West Coast of Normandy near Mont-St-Michel) but the aircraft was never retrieved. I've searched in the Luftwaffe database but I didn't find any aircraft who could have claimed a victory on LL387. Could this be a US Air Force claim? Can you help me? I thank you in advance. Bruno |

Hello Bruno,
according to the French database francecrashes39-45.net the Halifax LL387 was shot down near St-Pair-sur-Mer by flak (Circonstances: Abattu par la flak). Regards Leo |
