Nightfighter crew Lewis Parkes and A.R. Hancock
I am mainly interested in any service details about Lewis Parkes, although an identification of Hancock would be appreciated too. Parkes was an Australian in the RAF as RAFVR.1150610/115432. Born in NSW with possible full name Percy Lewis Parkes, even though all official records have him as Lewis Parkes. Hancock probably British with initials A.R.
Both Parkes and Hancock were with 456 Sqn RAAF from around Sept 41 until mid 1942 when following entry appears for 17 Jun 42 - “P/O L. PARKES and Sgt HANCOCK A.R. selected as crew to go to the Middle East. They are to report to P.D.C. on 29th June 1942 so will have time to get some leave.” Any details of which unit they went to in ME and subsequent postings? Parkes received an AFC at end of war for ferrying duties. Regards, Drew |
