Flt Lt J.H. Coghlan lost 17/18 August 1940
Hi guys
I'm aware that his demise has been discussed previously, but what is current thinking? Was anything new disclosed in Air81/2650? Cheers Brian |

Re: Flt Lt J.H. Coghlan lost 17/18 August 1940
Hi Brian,
I have copies of AIR81/2650. I have looked through them and can confirm that there is little additional info relating to the incident that cost him his life. One document from the international Red Cross states: 'Sergeant A A Brooker 742459 and Acting Flight Lieutenant J H Coghlan 37719 also lost their lives, but no date or place was mentioned.' The casualty telegram states: 'Flt Lt J H T Coghlan and possibly passenger missing' However, written in pencil on top of this document are the words: 'Crash. Advance copies sent to DRM Map Millbank P4 Cas'. I presume that you have seen his log book? The last recorded entry is for 3rd August 1940. Gerry |
