DNCO

Hi friends,

I've noticed on RAF pilot's log book the abreviation DNCO and sometimes "sweep DNCO".

Any idea of what means DNCO ?

Thank you for your help.

Stephane

Re: DNCO

I think the solution is "Duty Non Commissioned Officer" but what was the role of this man ?

Re: DNCO

The meaning of DNCO is generally "Duty Not Carried Out" (as opposed to DCO). It is often used in Operations Record Books for aircraft that had to turn back because of technical problems or some other reasons.

"Sweep DNCO" is new to me!

Best wishes,

Jérémie

Re: DNCO

Jeremie’s correct. It’s ‘Duty not carried out’.

Re: DNCO

Just to concur, this abbreviation was used for "Duty Not Carried Out" in 148 (SD) Sqdn records too - as a Special Duties squadron they often had to return from an operation without dropping their supplies and/or parachutists, so it's common in the squadron ORBs.
