Re: Capt Rasmussen 0-742898 44BG/66BS crew
Hello Alain,
According to the (all new?) website of the 44th BG Capt. Rasmussen flew a total of 14 missions and on that day the s/n of his B-24 was 42-50672. Kind regards, Dirk |

Re: Capt Rasmussen 0-742898 44BG/66BS crew
Has anyone else tried the (all new) website of the 44th bomb group and found it confusing?
https://www.44thbombgroup.org/home I would think it would be "relatively" easy to find the crew list for pilot Arthur H Rasmussen on the mission flown on Nov 29, 1944 to Altenbecken in 42-50672, but I don't see how. I will send an e-mail to the creator of the website, Mara Truslow, and see if she wants to comment. I may be missing something obvious. |

Re: Capt Rasmussen 0-742898 44BG/66BS crew
Using the grid "SEARCH FOR ANYTHING: MISSION DATA FOR ALL AIRMEN" and entering the date and aircraft serial number a list of 11 names is returned:

Sean,
Very good. I knew there probably had to be a way, I was just not coming up with it. I wonder if this was the plane that landed in Belgium? |

Re: Capt Rasmussen 0-742898 44BG/66BS crew
I received a reply from Mara (see post 5).
Hi Rolland, I don't have any more intel on this missions beyond what's in the UMS, but the data suggests it was Rasmussen's crew who landed in Belgium, seeing that there was only 1 bomber mentioned at landing on the continent, and Rasmussen was in the 66th. -Mara ***** UMS 11/29/44 The 44th dispatched 24 aircraft, 6 of the 67th's, to hit the railway viaduct at Altenbeiken. 68th's 1st Lt. J.R. Collins was Group lead for the 44th; Capt. Williams, 66th, led the 392nd BG in #594. 23 of our aircraft attacked the target on Gee-H through 10/10th cloud cover, with unobserved results. Enemy opposition was nil in the target area; fighter support excellent. All aircraft returned safely except one from the 66th Squadron who landed at St. Trond with his #4 engine out. He returned on the following day. Bomb loading 12 x 500 lb GPs. 2nd Lt. Hilmer assigned from Hq. 44th BG per paragraph 2, S.O. 330, Hq. 44th BG, 27 November. |
