Animals towing Luftwaffe aircraft

Dear forum members...

Perhaps you can help, I have a photo of a Bf 110 being pulled by cattle, location and date unknown.

Does anyone have similar photos in their collection that they can accurately date? What is the earliest date that you can pin down? I'm vaguely aware that the OKL issued an order sometime in 1944 that forbade aircraft to taxi under their own power to the runway. They were to be towed by horse or other animal to the runway and then back into dispersal to save fuel, but I think this might refer to Me 262s only?

Trying to get a caption for the image to use in a production, but can't share it online, frustratingly.

thanks for any help
Rich

What an outstanding line of inquiry.

Shouldn't there be photographs of horses doing this chore? (There is a VERY late war photograph of a horse pulling a wagon with JG-26 pilots walking on the road beside it. One is walking with a cast on his arm.)

Good luck with this search!

Re: Animals towing Luftwaffe aircraft

Merely as an aside: in early war horses were used to pull US made aircraft into Canada so that US neutrality laws were adhered to... Those laws forbade direct delivery by air, in this case to Britain.

Again, its Daniel using Gabor's account.
An account I found in ULTRA HW 5 dated 30 October 1944: Luftflotte Reich was to obtain 300 fresh draft oxen.

Daniel (using Gabor's account).
