Ki-21-Ib (Army Type 97 Heavy Bomber, Model IB)?

Hi

I am searching for any details interior pics of Ki-21-Ib -Army Type 97 Heavy Bomber, Model IB?

What was the exit / entrance way for the crews any information?

What was the standard crew configuration of this Aircraft?

Also in the later years of the war say 1945, how easy was to change the configuration of these aircrafts to use as a make shift transport aircraft and carry more people other than the default standard crew?

Is there any database of Japanese Aircraft losses in the year 1945?

Many thanks for all assistance.

Kind regards

Hello,

Have you considered https://arawasi-wildeagles.blogspot....t-br20-in.html

The book is generally good on the Ki-21 and has sections on the Ki-21 in detail which should answer your crew questions as well as the Ki-21 in civilian use which may help you decide how easy it was to convert the Ki-21 to transport use.But looking at the section on the military use of both Model 1 and Model 2 as transport aircraft,it would appear that the model 1 and Model 2 Ko were less modified with the greenhouse being retained whereas the model 2 Otsu lost the dorsal turret and replaced it with metal sheets. Still not a lot of work, but more than that undertaken on the model 1s.As far as civilian M-21 are concerned the greenhouse was retained if used as a cargo transport, but lost it if used as passenger transport. But really do consider buying the book. I don't think you'll regret it.

Regards,

Clint
