Re: May 1940 Hurricanes

As you are no doubt aware, most of these disappeared without trace.
One exception known to me is P2797, which was damaged with 607 Sqn on 18 May 1940 and later abandoned at Vitry. It appeared, seemingly uncoded, in a German photo on Ebay in which the serial was clearly visible.

According to Cornwell and Franks FCL (first edition) MacQueen was in P2767 on the 9th.
Since P2767 is specifically mentioned in documents to have been lost on the 9th, who was lost in
that aircraft that day?
And from where comes the change he was in P2726?

I also wonder if it was possible for Dini to force land the same day (18th May) in both P2797 and P3535?
Hectic days and hectic measures, I know, but since Dini most likely was hit by return fire from the
two Do 17s he claimed as damaged he must at least have been a bit shaken up....
Perhaps we was very unlucky....

Re: May 1940 Hurricanes

Stig,
The reference to P2726 comes from an old post from 2008.
I don't think there is any particular reason to doubt that MacQueen's aircraft was P2767:

Re: May 1940 Hurricanes

Thanks Andy,
I didn't look at FCL 2nd edition
For once it looks like the AIR 81 had it right

FCL vol 1 revised edition has -

P/O. A, S, Dini, P2797 - 607 Sqn.18/5/40.
Abandoned, after crash landing at Vitry.

P/O. D,G,MacQueen + - P2767 - 242 Sqn 9/7/40.
Shot down by Me109.

F/L. F,E,Rosier - L2142 - 229 Sqn 18/5/40.
Injured, baled burned, a/c exploded in combat with Me109s of II/JG26.

For interest -
The RAF Commands Forum AIR 81 database has zero info for -
P2675, P2726, P2757, P2759, P2816 , P2833.
