Dornier at Castel Benito
Hi,
Amongst the wrecked aircraft at Castel Benito airfield in 1943 was a Do 17 Z-2 coded 3U + FU of 10./ZG 26. Does anybody know what function this aircraft served in ZG 26 in North Africa? Was it for communications or courier duties or something else? https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gall...ia-libya-1943/ Thanks, Doug |

Re: Dornier at Castel Benito
Generally convoy escort. It was soon replaced by Ju 88Cs, some of which were left behind by I./NJG 2 when they returned to NW Europe mid-1942

Re: Dornier at Castel Benito
I think the a/c individual letter is actually 'E' (as seen on the wing bottom). Part of fuselage letter is obscured by an object in front.
