Curtis Lloyd Utterback (1924-1991)

Served in WW2, Korea and Vietnam. I have come across this fellow as XO to the 352nd FG "Ace" Bill Whisner of 25th FIS/51st FIW in 1952 but am interested in his career both prior to Korea and afterwards. He is shown on his gravestone as a WW2, Korea and Vietnam veteran,

Major Utterback was c.o. of 37 Flying Training Squadron (AETC) in 1959. He retired a Lieutenant Colonel and died in 1991.

regards

Keith

Promoted to 1st Lt on 19 March 1948.

He's is mentioned here in a 1964 newspaper: https://www.newspapers.com/article/t...reenli/724087/

In a Congressional Record of 1951, he's mentioned to be an F-86 pilot with the 61st Fighter Squadron at Selfridge AFB, Michigan.

Thanks Leendert. It seems certain that he was not on active service in WW2. Interesting that he was in the 61st FIS.

best regards

Keith

In the Victoria (TX) Advocate newspaper of 24 Sept 1944 he's described as a 'cadet lieutenant'.
You'll have noticed his enlistment record: https://aad.archives.gov/aad/record-...g=1&rid=284192
