MAW-4 Omission
In Mediterranean Air war- Volume 4, there is a curious omission in the detail presented for December 2,1943. This is the complete absence of the German unit responsible for the loss of two 82nd FG P-38s. In Tony Wood's list, the German unit is identified.
The responsible Luftwaffe unit was III/JG-53, with Major Gotz, Oblt Hake and Lt. Hennecke each claiming one P-38 at at 1200-1207 Also, on December 1,1943, there is so mention of Lt. Eldon Vondra, 27 FS, 1st FG who was lost near La Spezia. |

Re: MAW-4 Omission
Looks like all German claims from 2 Dec are missing. Probably a printing mistake!
The loss of Lt Vondra (if he was on an escort mission) will be included in Vol Six B Rgds Stig |
