Maj Harry T. Eidson USAAF

Maj Eidson commanded the 13PRS/3PG in the US until 12Aug42. Does anyone have details of his subsequent career? I believe he may have served in North Africa with the NAPRW so possibly held staff positions with 3PG.

Cheers

Leendert will become famous soon enough
Re: Maj Harry T. Eidson USAAF

12th AF in late 1942, early 1943 according https://catalog.archives.gov/id/1333...objectPage=414

Rank here Lt.Col.

Also see https://airforcehistoryindex.org/data/000/098/856.xml where Eidson is mentioned.

He may heve been involved in a Mosquito crash at Widewake Field, Ascension Island on 27 Nov 1943 (see https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/104773), but different O-number here than on Award Card..

Regards, Leendert

Re: Maj Harry T. Eidson USAAF

Newspaper reports (e.g. The Indianapolis News on 21 Dec 1943) tell that Lt Col Eidson was sent to a hospital in Atlanta, GA and later Santa Barbara, CA, after his crash. It transpires that he met his future wife while recovering.
See https://www.newspapers.com/article/t...weds/42701214/ with some of his career. Also see https://www.newspapers.com/article/f...-ha/124042785/

Some of his N. Africa time: https://www.newspapers.com/article/t...star/56507025/
