P-38 Lightning lost August 2 1944 near Berg Belgium
Hi ,
On August 2 1944 Flak from airfield Melsbroek in Belgium shot down a P-38 Lightning who crashed near Berg north of Melsbroek. Anyone an idea of the identity of this aircraft ? Regards Alain57 |

Must be P-38J 42-104397 of 479th FG, 436th FS. Pilot Fred A. Moser Jr., POW. Check MACR 7738. Groet, Leendert

If the P-38 was shot down by Flak from Melsbroek it must be the small town of Perk some 3 km north of the airfield and west of Kampenhout.

Re: P-38 Lightning lost August 2 1944 near Berg Belgium
Or perhaps it could be the hamlet of Berg just to the southwest of Kampenhout.
This could make more sense with the luftwaffe report in mind. Groetjes, Dirk |
