Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin

Good evening !

Can anyone give me a time-frame, when Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin joined 22nd FBW/FDW Squadron (36th FBW) at Bitburg, Germany, and when he was released from this organisation to another assignment ?.

Thank you very much !

Leendert !

Thanks for the reply. In the web, I noticed this site. By my information, the transition from F-86 to F-100 at the 36th FDW started in April 1956 and Aldrin joined the 22nd FDS in 1956. Did he ever flew an F-86 for 22nd FDW in Bitburg or did he already start in Bitburg completlely with F-100 ?

Best regards !

Red face Re: Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin

Gentlemen,

A few years later in 1969 Aldrin had walked on the moon. His mother's maiden name was Moon! Forgot her first name.

According to this link:

he started at Bitburg in August, 1956 and was a F-100 pilot. He was at Bitburg until May, 1959.

Gentlemen,

In 2023 Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin was promoted to brigadier general USAF says Wikipedia. He is over 90 years of age and has a clean shaven face. Clean shaven mean no facial hair.
