2/3 Dec 42 Wellington 1474 loss
In WWII History Magazine December 2021 has an article reading Nazi Radar in which Wellington DT-G of 1474 Flt took off during the 2/3 Dec 42 raid on Frankfurt on a Elint mission to gather info on German Radar signals. The plane was shot up by a ju 88 nightfighter and ditched of the coast of England.
Does anyone know the S/N of the aircraft? There are no claims for it in the NCA. The Ju 88 made 10 or 11 attacks so it might be an unconfirmed claim. I have read that some rookie German night fighter pilots will sometimes keep attacking a bomber in order to get their first kill. |
