Sunderland/Fw200 combat 14/8/40

Hi guys

14 August 1940:

210 Sqn Sunderland N9027 returned with starboard wing and fuel tanks slightly damaged by cannon fire from Fw 200 of 1./KG40 engaged during convoy escort patrol 1.35 p.m.

Do we know identity of FW200 and pilot, and and any additional information?

I have a feeling that Chris may know something!

Cheers
Brian
(PS: I'm awaiting a cataracts operation, so please excuse any oddities!)

Was in Bordeaux on Saturday. Not a Condor in sight but a really nice bistro close to the train station made up for that. Working holiday I am afraid sorting out our house

Re: Sunderland/Fw200 combat 14/8/40

All I have:

The first recorded Coastal Command combat with a Condor was with a Sunderland serial N9027 and coded DA-J of 210 Sqn captained by Flt Lt Peter Parry-Jones 130 miles off Bloody Foreland on 14 August 1940.

Date Time Location Allied Details KG 40 Details
14 Aug 40 1335 TGSC 2644 Sunderland N9027/J of 210 Sqn (Flt Lt P Parry Jones)

German records note 2 Sunderlands were spotted by a Condor at 1615hrs (?) 340 km WNW Londonderry
