Ju88 I./LG1 shot down 14/8/40

Hi guys

In The BoB Now & Then is recorded the loss of a Ju88 of I./LG1 on 14/8/40 (shot down off Isle of Wight) with the crew listed as Stahl, Lehmann, Poppe and Neff. I can't find the names elsewhere.

Has there been an update?

Cheers
Brian

Lt Werner Stahl, Uffz Reinhardt Lehmann, Gefr Karl Neff, Uffz Heinz Poppe. You would have found this on page 220 of Achtung Spitfire which I know you have Brian!

Comments and Source Discrepancies
All of the sources list this loss with variations in the identification of the crew, the time and the possible claimants. It is likely that Lt Stahl's Ju 88 was shot down by Hurricanes of 43 Squadron as S/L Badger's combat report describes seeing their victim crash into the sea. Only two Ju 88s were shot down during this series of engagements and it is known that the other Ju 88 crashed near Middle Wallop, probably the victim of Sgt Feary of 609 Squadron. However, several other claims were made for Ju 88s by pilots of 92 and 609 Squadrons, and so it is not possible to be absolutely certain about the identity of the claimants.

Oh dear!

Senility rapidly approaching! My only excuse is that I was suffering a migraine headache at the time of posting!

Many thanks
