LVG post-war

One for Stig and Clint; an LVG C.VI in 1919 with Deutsche Luft Reederei (DLR) operating an airmail-passenger service, and still with wing crosses and lozenge camo. The company logo and white numbers were on the LVGs. The furry man in the rear cockpit is famous film actor Hans Albers; with a Jewish wife his popularity must have seen them through the 30s and 40s.

Re: LVG post-war

Are you sure this is Hans Albers?
In 1919 he was 28 years old and the man above looks quite a bit older than that.....

Unfortunately I have nothing on DLR 5

Re: LVG post-war

I think it's Albers; his appearance may be due to his injuries in the war not long before. He carried a stick anyway. The lady is the photo-journalist Elsbeth Kurasch (he's holding her hand). Before the "D" civil registrations they had airline numbers eg. D-14 was formerly DLR.47. The weights table under the cockpit is probably painted over, it would be....

Re: LVG post-war

Perhaps.....

No big deal.
I have the basic details published (see Lennart's book by Air Britain) but it is not known any
former Bestellnummer or WNr of this aircraft.

Cheers
