Re: Photo Recce Mission 8 Oct 41
Thanks Nick. Looks like 43473 William Ronald Acott. I have a mention in a German logbook that this German pilot attempted to intercept at 9000m over the sea north of Brest

Confirm it was Acott. His landing time was actually 15:50.
He photographed Brest port, the Rade, Goulet and all of the A/Ds and SPBs from 29,000ft. The images of the port showed the Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and Prinz Eugen.

Re: Photo Recce Mission 8 Oct 41
Mean time of photography was about 15:10 so allowing for 1hr time difference it fits well. Guipavas A/D (Brest/Nord) was the first target covered with Acott carrying another run over the same location on the way home.

Re: Photo Recce Mission 8 Oct 41
Though couldn't leave port until Feb. 42. This is a closer view presumably from 1 PRU, "Prinz Eugen" is moored to left. From the Air Ministry account of Bomber Command to July 1941 which dates the photo roughly. Also shot of N3111 in pale pink low-level scheme, grey details.

Re: Photo Recce Mission 8 Oct 41
There are a number of such photos floating around-I have two in my Channel Dash book. Quite an effort from Bomber Command and PRU over 11 months
