Re: Ju-87 salvaged off Rhodes Island

Hei everybody,

The aircraft belonged to 6. Staffel/Transportgeschwader 4, stationed in Tatoi/ Athens, Staffel Kpt. Oberleutnant Auer.
Transporting paras of th 1.Btl./2. Fallsch.Jg.Rgt. towards Leros, was shot down by british antiaircraft guns.
The crew survived except the BM who was injuried and drowned, aswell some of the paras.

Re: Ju-87 salvaged off Rhodes Island

Hi Ian,
mea culpa, it was a missunderstanding.
I was talking about a Ju 52/3m (4V+BT) salvaged Okt. 2003 off Leros Island/Alinda bay.

Re: Ju-87 salvaged off Rhodes Island

Is this the way on how these relics will be 'preserved' ? In the open as a diorama? Incredible

No, it was a special exhibition to celebrate the opening of the renovated museum hangar, and temporary only.
