This is the mount of S/Ldr C pf 455 Sqn. Aircraft damaged on Fight to Russia and force landed. September 1942 - 455 (RAAF) and 144 Sqn RAF

Should know more but from memeory.

S/Ldr C was one of those 'Great escapees' from Sagen Stalag Luft III who was shot.

Yes, it looks like UB-C AT109 which landed at Molvika, northern Norway on 4/5 Sep.1942. They received FLAK damage on its way to Murmansk. Sqn./Ldr. Catanachs and crew became POW's. The Germans did some test flights with it from Høybugtmoen airport, Kirkenes.

Thanks for the postive ID of the Hampden guys!

I noted it was also up for auction on 18 oct 2008. That copy showed the same imperfections as is visible on this auctioned copy.
