Smile jg organization question

can anyone advise as to number of aircraft in a geschwader, group and staffel......in paticular for jg26 in August 1940.........I read that at this period there would have been 3 groups with 3 staffel in each, is it true that the numbers of aircraft varied from 9 to 16 per staffel?
any help appreciated
gary
