Re: News from Greece

Hello Aviator,

That Arado 196 with the Code 7R+BK belonged obviously to 2./125. This unit, as far as I know, has never been in Norway
http://www.ww2.dk/air/recon/aufkl125.html

I think , I`ll know tomorrow if that place is Skaramanga (as I believe) or somewhere else.

About your second question, as far as I can tell, there was no airfield in Mycenae. Mycenae is some 10 Km. outside of Argos, the same distance its airfield as well.
I have a list with all the existing airfields (Fliegerhorst Kommandanturen) in Greece used by the Germans, my sources are the war diaries; not one is mentioning an airfield in Mycenae.
Do you have any document that can verify the existence of this Fl.H.Kdtr ?
It would interest me

best regards

Byron

Re: News from Greece

Hello Byron,

Well, you are right that there was not Fl Kommandatur at Mycenae. It was during the invasion that the Raf probably used a small field for operation. The reason for that was that there was no cover for the aircraft at Argos airfield. The whole thing lasted just about a week.Thats only what i know.
By the way ,is any photo existing showing Agrinion airfield?

regards,

Aviator
