2 HSU, Gen.-Maj. G.F.Sivkov, passed away...
20 november 2009, one of the last Twice Hero of Soviet Union Assault pilots (Il-2 pilots) passed away. G.F. Sivkov was born February 10, 1921 in the Perm' region in a peasant family. Since 1939 the Red Army. In 1940 he graduated from the aviation school. At the front with the December 1941 fought in the light bomber Su-2, then in Il-2. He participated in battles in Ukraine and the Kuban, the Northern Caucasus and Crimea, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Yugoslavia. He flew over 240 combat missions as pilot of attack aircraft inflicted heavy losses on the enemy in manpower and combat vechicles. In 1944 and 1945 was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. After the war was a test pilot. In 1952 he graduated from the Military Engineering Academy "name of Professor N.E. Zhukovsky" with a gold medal, defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of technical sciences. 1973 - Head of the department of safety academy. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the October Revolution, three Orders of the Red Banner, Order of Alexander Nevsky, two Orders of the Patriotic War I degree, Order of the Red Star and many medals. At home, twice Hero of the Soviet Union GF Sivkova set his bronze bust.
