Re: JG 52 victories
Hi Nokose,
Also on the same date, 1 Nov 1942: I believe von Bonin's La-5 victory at 1308 was possibly St.Serzhant Vladimir Konstantinovich Shcheglov of 131 IAP KIA on IL-2 escort mission Bennemann at 1145 and von Bonin at 1525 claimed MiG-3s. Was one of them Ivan Filippovich Golubin, HSU, OL and ORB of 16 IAP, KIA? (Not withstanding the MiG-3 claims by Meltzer and Heisel...) Nick |

Re: JG 52 victories
Nick, according to Mikhail Bykov's book on Soviet Aces, Ivan Filippovich Golubin was KIFA and not in combat. I read that he was buried in Moscow. Strangely there is no listing for him in the OBD.

Re: JG 52 victories
26 Oct 1942 Transfer flight from Nesterovskaya airfield to Tulatovo airfield.
La-5 (# 5003) 131 IAP Kapt. Dmitriy Ivanovich Sigov (KIA) on landing at Tulatovo. 5./JG 52 Uffz Kortenhaus La-5 (1) 15:20 Nordrand flugplatz Fulatowo La-5 (# 5004) 131 IAP Ml. Lt. Novikov (WIA) (I believe this is Mikhail Sergeevich Novikov but can't verify yet) forced down 1 km SE of the airfield. The fighter was wrecked. 5./JG 52 Hptm. Siegfried Simsch La-5 (50) 15:25 PlQu. 44814 I think this will be the last I post to JG 52 Victories as I have to go back and check to make sure that I don't duplicate any. I hope it was helpful. |

Re: JG 52 victories
Hi Michael,
for these two I had: Kapitan Dmitriy Ivanovich Sigov Hero of Soviet Union, 2 x Order of Lenin, 2 x Order of the Red Star and Serzhant Aleksey Pavlovich Bragin both KIA (from www.allaces.ru) Can we ascertain the discrepancy? Nick |

Re: JG 52 victories
Nick,
www.allaces.ru is not 100% correct. The information I received was from someone who works in TaAMO. The aircraft numbers he got from a the 131 IAP aircraft losses report and who was KIA on them but not full name information on the WIA. For example on the allaces look at the 11 Nov 1942, Vladimir Matveevich Kordik was listed as KIA. That couldn't have happen as he was killed in a dogfight on the 10 Nov 1942. |

Re: JG 52 victories
Michael,
These are strange serial numbers for early La-5s. Should be 0503 and 0504. Full serials are 37210503and 37210504. Quote:

Re: JG 52 victories
Nikita,
These La-5 were produced at Plant 31, Tbilisi? The losses though for the 26 Oct 1942 are correct? |

Re: JG 52 victories
26 May 1943 18:16 - 19:10 (Moscow)
8 Pe-2 from the 205 BAP under escort of 6 Yak-7B from the 43 IAP bombed the SW outskirts of Russkoe. The Pe-2s received AAA fire from Moldavanskoe, Russkoe, Verkhniy Desser. Pe-2 (# 16/123) was hit in the left engine and left formation. Two Bf 109 struck during this time. The Soviets reported the Pe-2 flown by St. Serzhant Aleksey Grigor'evich Shmakov shot down by flak. Shmakov ended up a POW and his two crew men KIA. Also shot down was the Yak-7B 43 IAP flown by Lt. Nikolay Filippovich Zayats who survived (Later MIA 29 Sep 1943). Now JG 52's side. Maj. Herbertus von Bonin Stab III/JG 52 LaGG-3 (61) 17:43 PlQu. 34 Ost/85142 SE Krymskaya LaGG-3 (62) 17:45 PlQu. 34 Ost/75264 SW Krymskaya Lt. Berthold Korts Stab III/JG 52 Pe-2 (37) 17:43 PlQu. 34 Ost/75292 Pe-2 (38 in Prien's JFV 12/II it was numbered 37 again) 17:45 34 Ost/85143 SSE Krymskaya Pe-2 (39) 17:48 34 Ost/85141 SE Krymskaya So Korts possibly one Pe-2 of three. Okay, for those looking at 13.(Slow)/JG 52 for this time period it appears their battle was to the north of Krymskaya and nearly at the end of the 205 BAP's mission time. Obfw. Pavol Zelenak 13./JG 52 Pe-2 (9) [But if your looking at Tony Wood's list instead of Prien's JFV 12/II it has "LaGG-3"] 18:05 34 Ost/76892 N. Krymskaya Fw. Jan Reznak 13./JG 52 Pe-2 (29) 18:10 34 Ost/86772 S. "Trojzkaja" |

Re: JG 52 victories
12 Nov 1941 16:10 - 17:10 (MT)
3 MiG-3 and 2 I-16 made a flight to cover 3 SB bombers of the 150 SBAP to bomb German forces at Ruza. From the mission did not return the MiG-3 of the 180 IAP flown by Lt. Nikita Borovoy. He returned by other means to his regiment on the 15 Nov 1941 (He would actually become MIA on the 20 Jan 1942. Oblt. Siegfried Simsch 5/JG 52 shot down an I-18 (18) 15:40 but gave no location. |
