Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Thanks Rudi. Not Ar 234 but Me 262 wing and engine assembly. Ju 87 and this assembly ate known, but I don’t have access to my files right now to determine the location. I am sure others will be able to identify the airfield.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Thanks Roger. The shape of the wing made me think it was an Ar 234.

Rudi

#989 Thanks Nick for your confirmation of TG30. Subsequently I have found another photo of the same machine in Pegg's 'Transporter Vol2' on page 189, it was He111 H-20 W.Nr.700328 coded S3+IP at Schweinfurt in 1945.
Regards
Peter

S3+IP would be a problem because as far as I know TGr. 30 only had three Staffeln in the period from June 1944 until the end of the war.

For the supply operations in the west from June 1944 only the Stab, 1., 2. and 3. appear to have been involved.

Hi Ed,
That's not exactly what Nick said; just that after June 1944 TGr.30 had three Sfaffeln.
Same in Pegg's Transporter Vol 2 (I gave just a quick glance) it's clearly said page 159 where "the group had at that time- around 18 of November - between 30 to 35 machines divided between the three Staffeln" (sic)

As for the machine with "K" on rudder ...
Caption page 181 talking about 700628 Code S3+ML !!! and tail unit was a replacement.
...
As for me I can't go beyond this; unless there was two machines having a replacement tail with a "K" on it

regards,
Franck.

PS: Both machine at Schweinfurt, indeed; it should have been too easy without that de-tail (!)

Actual strengths at this period (source: ULTRA) were:

17.11.44 10 (3) aircraft 57 (15) crews
19.11.44 11 (3) aircraft 57 (16) crews

700628 was damaged twice in ground accidents, in November 1944 and January 1945.
