I agree about 3./NAGr. 1. It seems not to have reused old fuselage numbers when receiving new aircraft, so the numbers got bigger and bigger. Ltn. Rudi Metzler of 3./NAGr. 1 was lost in Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr. 230146, black 64 on 14 February 1945. Also, this deciphered message from 12 February 1945:
CX/MSS/R461(C),16

P and Q report dated 12/2:
Day of loss: 11/2
Unit: UDODA ((3./NAG)) 1
Place: Not known
Flying task: Flight against the enemy
Cause: Probably shot down by enemy fighter(s)
A/c type: FARN ((Me 109)) G-6
Works No: 230500
Marking: + 65
Percentual damage: Probably total loss, replacement required
Pilot: Oberfähnrich Karl Heinz Piper, whereabouts not known.

NOTE: Piper missing on 11/2 in MSS/R/459(C),4
I guess that black numbers were a hangover from when the Staffel was 5.(F)/123.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Thank you my dear,

Yes, True Bf109G-5s.
Roughly and fast guess ... JG3.
After that we have to go around an check for it... as usual.
And Bad-Wörishofen.

This is not a speculation but a start to think about those pictures. Nothing more; just say to force the brains ...

Exceptionnal, indeed.

Regards, Franck.
