Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!

Hi Marcel,
You are a greater expert than me on this subject, but the type and number of guns (2 cm or 3 cm) is that not a pointer, or was there complete chaos where guns were replaced irrecspective of the sub-type? And AFAIK only A-5 to A-7 had Mk151 in the belly-pack.

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!

All He 219 used MG 151 in the belly pack (or had the capability to use up to four there). The use of Schräge Musik limited them to the two forward-mounted guns though.
3cm guns were an option but seldomly used, MK 103 most probably not used at all - too heavy.

Hi Denniss,
I would be grateful if you could quote or even better post your source.
Attached is mine; copy from Schiffer - Luftwaffe Profile n°03 - Heinkel He 219 Uhu

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!

Oh no, not the old/outdate profile series .....
He 219 A-0 weapons manual clearly shows MG 151/20 in wing root as standard armament with four guns in the belly station as Rüstsatz (optional installation), Rüstsatz M1 was 4x MG 151/20, M2 was MK 108 and M3 was MK 103.
A-0 weapons manual, Beiheft 1 Schrägbewaffnung, clearly states the rear guns of the belly package had to be removed.

Let us try to stick to original manuals, archive materials and so on. As allready proven by Ron Fergusson with his research paper, all published books on this subject are filled with wrong captions and contradictions.

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!

Hi,
I will be more than happy to do that. So who has an original German document describing the various versions (sub-types) of the He 219?
The salvaged He 219 has no guns in the wing roots (most unusual, since they were the basic armament) and no SM (not so unusual since this was often removed at unit level) and AFAICT the picture shows the forward part of the ventral tray with the outboard/forward MK151/20.
BTW Kim has informed me, that they have not found any 2 cm ammo in the wreck, just ammo for the MG15.

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!

and all became quiet on the Western Front.
The two weapons manuals, which have been indirectly referred to, describes the weapons fit on the He 219A-0. Are we to assume that they were applicable to all versions of the He 219A ?

This may be possible although A-2 and A-7 had different assembly/part numbers for the forward-mounted weapons in the belly (but not the rear-mounted) and for Schräge Musik. (See the attachment by Marcel)

BTW the weapons manual is of 3/44 (data from 2/44) and the Beiheft is from 10/44 (data from 7/44)

Re: He 219 found in Denmark !!!

Johannes Hager flew an A-0 variant on eve of 16/17 June 1944 where he claimed 3 bombers , two of them with the SM installation. of note reviewing the scan of his Abschusse report - 197 rounds of 2cm ammunition. the aircraft in question G9+LP was equipped with 6 2cm MG 151's and 2 2cm MG/FF in the SM installation.

interesting eh ?
