Re: Fw190D-9 in Schlachtgeschwader 151?

Nick and Junker, thank you for the answers!

@Junker: Do you have further information from the Flugbuch, like markings/werknummer of the D-9 or the dates and type of flight conducted?
At Grove I./SG 151 was in a training role as far as I know, so operational sorties can be ruled out?

Concerning Fw190D-9 in service with ground-attack units, I found another example. The Flugbuch of Hptm. Hendrik Stahl from Stab/SG 2 shows one maintenance flight with a Fw190D-9 marked T9 + AA from Grossenhain in March 1945!

Best regards

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the interest in the Courland book. In the next week or two there will be a bit of news about the project on our blog (http://www.airwarpublications.com/blog), and in our forthcoming Air War Publications newsletter. Won't reveal more now, but the main point is that there has been some good progress these last few weeks, after a year's hiatus.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Sorry, the marking must read T6 + AA! My mistake!

Do you know what that marking could have looked like on the plane? I guess small T6 with the first A in RLM 25 green for Stab?!

Hello Micke,

unfortunately no pictures exist, only an entry in the Flugbuch!

FB entry for I/SG 151 Grove:
Pilot Reents
Platzflug 06.04.1945.
Überlandflug/Rottenflug 09.04.1945, with GrpKdr Pölz. Start to Lübeck and on to Berlin. Next day return to Grove. Fw 190 D-9. No marking entered in the FB. It's not known if Pölz also flew a D-9.

Hello Junker,

Thank you for the intriguing information from the Flugbuch, but darn you for teasing us.

@Junker: BTW, the D-9 pilot Reents, is that maybe Siebelt Reents, the Zerstörer / Nachtjäger pilot?
