Re: Leutnant "Munsch" erg./EKDO 25

Johannes,
There are documents (with pages missing), awards and photos of the EKdd25 Fick on the Wehrmacht Awards Forum:

https://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/for...k#post12541312
(you need to be a member to access the forum)

Though no unit listing is in the documents, from the group and what the owner of the collection states, I could establish the following:

Gunter FICK (DOB 14.11.14 Husum/Schonwalde) (Document entry)
28.02.39 Uffz awarded Flugzeugfuhrerabzichen (award document)
01.09.40 promoted Fw (entry promotion page)
14.12.40 Fw awarded KVK mit S II Klasse (award document)
01.02.42 promoted Ofw (entry promotion page)
06.07.43 Ofw Ekdo I./JG1 awarded EK II (award document)
07.04.44 Ofw Ekdo 25 awarded FFSiB (award document)
16.06.44 Ofw Ekdo 25 awarded EK I (award document)
04.02.45 award of DKG (awards page in document - entry a discussion point in the forum (questionable entry))
01.04.45 promoted KO Ant (entry promotion page)
20.04.45 promoted Ltn (entry promotion page)
survived war (statement of document owner from son of Gunther Fick)
~1957 deceased (calculation from ages in above statement – forum messages dated 2021. Forum owner given documents by Son who was 77 years old, thus born around 1944 and stated father died when son was 13 therefore adds up to sometime around 1957- not an exact science but an indicator)

From the above, it definitely links the JG1 Fink with the EKdo Fink with the award of the EKII with Ekdo I stated on award (likely for the 22.03.43 claim) and the award of the EK I with EKdo25 stated on award (likely for the claims mentioned here) – it makes sense.

Also, he definitely is not the JG4 or JG76 Fink – different birth date, wasn’t promoted Ltn until 20.04.45 and survived the war.

Therefore 2 different people possibly 3.

Regards

Craig…

Re: Leutnant "Munsch" erg./EKDO 25

Hi Leo and Craig

Many thanks.

Great piece of work. There must be three Günther Fick's then, the JG 76 one cannot be that of JG4.

One question is what did D.O.B 14th November 1914 do after June 1944. DKiG announcements became clumped together towards end of 1944, yet their documentation show exact date.

Kind regards

Johannes

Nothing more on units though could have been in JG400/JG7 as he was trained on the Me163 & Me262. Several pilots moved from JG400 to JG7 late in the war.

wrt the DKiG there was a debate as to the authenticity of the entry - no other evidence presented that he was awarded the DKiG.

Regards,

Craig...

Hi Craig

Regarding the DKiG there are a couple of pilots visibly wearing this oversized decoration not on offical list, one I remember......Hermann Graf.

Kind regards

Johannes
