According to Wikipedia Cap(e) Carbonara is at the southeastern tip of Sardinia. The crash was reported as "Heimatflug" and therefore might have been on a transfer flight to Sicily.

It figures there were more than one Cap Carbonara. I must say if I had had a choice myself about the routing to Trapani I would have chosen the Italian west coast and crossed over at Messina, but perhaps they were ordered to take the absolutely shortest route.... Cheers Stig |
