Reply about Stkz

Hi

Can you confirm that the W/Nr for the Stkz BI+ER is correct?

I have this W/Nr as CC+PF Est Rechlin Cr.30.10.42, near Demmin.

CC+PF - CC+PZ 14235 - 14255

Also can you confirm the Stkz DH+VQ? I have this as a Bu 181 as is the whole of the DH+V. series.

Rabe can you please get back so that these anomolies can be cleared up.

If not on-boards then do contact me at home.

Thanks

Regards

Tom Willis

Hello Tom!

The Werke Nummer I first gave for BI+ER was wrong, typing/reading error. It has now been corrected to 14254 also on the original posting.

The MT-225 was WNr 13577 and it's Stkz DH+UQ. Note the third letter is "U" not "V"!

If you like you can contact the author of the article in Suomen ilmailuhistoriallinen lehti, mr. Pentti Manninen, at (e-mail address also given in the magazine):
inscale72production@luukku.com

AFAIK at the moment he has Stkz for all FinnAF Bf 109 G-2, save one:

MT-221, WNr 10522

If anyone can help with that, contact Pentti at address above. He has degree in history, researches, writes and publishes about Finnish aviation history and works from primary sources (as with the Stkz case here).

As far as I am concerned, I think haven't anything to add any more.

With Best Regards,
Kari

Hello Kari,

I also checked my Stkz database and BI+ER simply doesn't fit. As same as Tom, I have WNr.14 235 - 14 255 listed as CC+PF - CC+PZ. According to this, WNr.14 254 (MT-230) should be CC+PY.
I think our primary source for this Stkz series was Peter Schmolls "Die Messerschmitt-Werke im Zweitem Weltkrieg" - an excellent book, which contains also some typos, so I would still leave WNr.14 254 being BI+ER as a possibility.
BTW, WNr.14 254 was one of the last produced G-2s at MTT Regensburg in August 1942. Immediately after being completed the last G-2 batch (WNr.14 246 - 14 268) was converted to G-2/trop standard during August and September 1942. Among those was another Bf109 later delivered to the Finnish AF, MT-241 WNr.14 253.
Can you confirm that MT-241 had the Stkz CC+PX? If so, we can at least be certain that WNr.14 235 - 14 253 were CC+PF - CC+PX.

best regards,
Tomislav

ArtieBob will become famous soon enough
BI+Ex

First, what a nice thread! Members actually sharing real data, not just personal opinions, identifying sources and best of all, participants not implying that anyone who doesn't agree with them are ignorant, incompentent or a member of the Axis of Evil. Just a quick addition! In Suomen Do 17 & Ju 88 (I don't have this in front of me, I may have spelled incorrectly), p.103 a SKZ of BI+EY is given for Ju 88 W.Nr. 3845, JK-259. I have never been able to match another Ju 88 to this sequence, so possibly it was a ferry code for LW aircraft being ferried to the Finns.

Best regards,

Artie Bob
