Found another (half) answer. Lt Julian Strong Lake III led VC-3/B from June-December 1951. The afore mentioned Jaynes was Lt (j.g.) Sutton L. Jaynes.

George you are quite right of course (post 6), Historical Study 107 actually uses the word "withdraw" ie. "The Army is prepared to withdraw Army Air Forces from anti-submarine operations at such time as the Navy is ready to take over those duties completely". The Army-Navy agreement followed a meeting on June 10 1943.
No doubt VS and VSB duties carried on unaffected in the Caribbean (cf. VS40). Regards Nick |
