Re: Oblt/Hptm Karl-Heinrich Matern

Hi Chris

Have checked mikrofilm claims and losses and concluded it's not Matern, could not find the name in losses, but with claims looks like Oblt Mau....r. or Man....r. No losses with II./ZG 1 either, so another mysteryleft to be solved.

Kind Regards

Johannes

Oblt Walter Maurer? He was with SKG 210 before taking command of the Me 210 development unit at Rechlin

Re: Oblt/Hptm Karl-Heinrich Matern

Hi Chris

I had thought Maurer, but could not find a match with Luftwaffe officers career summaries, it's not an unusual name, but no forename given, so thanks for clearing that up. The fact that he transferred out explains why I could find no loss for him.
Just found this guy on Luftwaffe officers careers summaries. Apparently he claimed in Spain, no mention of SKG 210, rather ZG 2 until shot down and captured in France, then to 16./KG 6 sout down and captured over England, but I believe you are correct and it's all one guy.

Kind Regards

Johannes
