Hi all,

have somebody more infor about loss of Jack W. Oliver from 15 JAn 1943?
BY this link is listed like POW :Stalag Luft 3 Sagan-Silesia Bavaria (Moved to Nuremberg-Langwasser) 49-11 and was from 81st FG.

Re: Captured P-39 Airacobra - MTO area

Faenor,

Good find. In an online book called "Hitlers' Tenant" by William H. Harvey there's a reference to Jack Oliver from Denver, Colorado: shot down in a P-39 Bay of Biscay15 January 1943...

Further details not known (yet).

Regards,

Leendert

Re: Captured P-39 Airacobra - MTO area

Received info that Capt. Oliver was of the 93rd FS. On 15 Jan 1943 15 P-39's of the 81st FG took off from Atchem to Port Lyautey (Morocco).
During the flight Capt Oliver left the formation and it was not known then if he had managed to get back to the UK or was forced down enroute.

Because the Germans made him POW, there's a possibility that Capt. Oliver had drifted over France. And got a P-39/400?
But this needs further confirmation.

Regards,

Leendert
