if You are asking from me, I'm referring the text of Gordon's & Khazanov's book. The only photo I'm refering to is one in the both translations of Helmut Lipfert's memories to Finnish. Juha |

The subject is interesting but this is a little academic discussion. Why to require from the Russians the bullet-proof windshields in their aircraft if in the same time much better US industry was unable to offer bird-proof windshields not to mention bullet-proof ones?
In 1943 the following US companies tried to manufacture hardened windshield for the aircraft: Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Libbey-Owens Ford, E. I. du Pont de Nemours, Monsanto. The time of 1940s all over the world is a period of illusive bullet-proof glass in the windshields. Last edited by Empiricist; 13th August 2007 at 18:47. |
