Re: Need history of He111P WNr. 2463
Hello,
I did some research on the crash-site of a He111, and found a little plaque with the Wnr 2407. Could you provide some details on this aircraft ? Thank you, Alain. |

Re: Need history of He111P WNr. 2463
Alain,
Since the EOE Project is attempting to document precisely the location and identity of every aircraft, including Luftwaffe, that crashed or crash-landed during the WC, can you tell me what you know about the location and circumstances of the crash of the He111 with the W.Nr. 2407? This could likely be within the scope of our project. We have many photos of He111 losses during that period, and a comprehensive data base of all losses, but we're unlikely to be able to be helpful to you without more than the W.Nr., which generally wasn't recorded by the Luftwaffe records-keepers during that period of the war. Most of our information on that subject comes from either photos of the aircraft or crashes themselves, or the logbooks of the crewmen. Very few W.Nr.s come from surviving contemporary records. Your plaque could also be a component plane, not the master data plate with the a/c W.Nr. Regards, |

Hi,
If the WNr of the aircraft is 2407 I have it recorded as an E-1 but no more info at present. Regards, David |

Re: Need history of He111P WNr. 2463
Hello,
The plaque is little, on it it is written: Heinkel Werk ??? G.m.b.H Oranienburg Fabr.Nr. 2407 Ab? LML then a little roundel with the number 68 in it The crash-site is near Vierzon in France, I found many pieces of this aircraft. The local witness cannot remember the year of the crash exactly, 1942 or 1943...It was in the evening, he said that the He111 was shot down by an other plane. All the crew was killed and taken in the morning by germans army. They leave all the wreckage in the wood, a great part was taken in 45 or 46 by local people. I found some cartridge of light gun, but no other marking on all I found . Alain. |
