Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss

These photos were taken at Bardufoss by an RAF officer of the Air Disamament Wing in the summer and autumn of 1945, any information is appreciated.

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss

Nearest is Ju 188 E or F (BMW 801 engines), next Ju 88 A-17 coded +SP (?), then two unindentifiable Ju 88 A´s, then one more Ju 188, finally an Fw 58 code +CA (?) I have no further info on them now - as I said - I thought none but wrecks were left there - Will add four Ju 88 A and two Ju 188 to my list of planes surrendered at this location. Maybe Seaplanes can give some of the remaining W.Nr´s (or codes) to you. Are there more pictures?

But thanks for posting, greatly appreciated!

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss

Thanks edNorth for the info, I can finally update my records. I have posted one final photo of the fate of "866". the A17s were of particular interest to the RAF, it was intended to hand over as much as possible to the Norwegian Air Force, however the A17s were considered too offensive to pass on, and the order was passed to destroy them as quickly as possible with the least fuss.

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss

Thanks alvis48. Yes, what a waste. Shurely could have come in handy in the beginning of the cold-war (yet to come) - untill jets arrived in 1950´s. Only transports or light aircraft were passed on to RNoAF. Same happened in Denmark, but RAF ADW destroyed everything there, and then the Danes had to buy old RAF planes for large sums.

Alvis,

Thanks for sharing all those great Bardufoss pictures! They are really a treat. The destruction of those machines was really brutal...

Cheers
Marc

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss

Remi,
I agree 2181=822181, also the Stammkennzeichen fits in the W.Nr. sequence. Thank you Seaplanes!
Best Regards,

ArtieBob

Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss

Were the stammkennzeichen numbers changed when these aircraft were put on reserve? In the photos they are 1N+QN for 550866 Ju88, and ??+NH for the Ju188.
Best regards
Chris

Hello!

Is there any photograph of this W 34 V7+1Q? Even appearing on the background? If my memory is not failing me this a/c appears numerous times in the Finnish Air Observation company logs (Rovaniemi IIRC at least). It is now two-three years I last worked with them.

Cheers,
Kari
