Just like to clear this up, I found 47 Sqn ORB entry for this date as follows:- 47 Sqn ORB 14:31 36º 4?N 26º 40E. Attacked by 2 Me.109’s.Formation opened up stragglers on port and starboard. Me’s dropped long range fuel tanks 15 minutes later one Beaufighter shot into sea. Second Beaufighter starboard engine on fire, heading east. Also ditched. Barge straffing with 8 Beaus of 603 Sqdn.12:20 16:40 Beaufighter X “G” Sgt A.Woodfield Sgt P.Tuhill Beaufighter X “Z” Sgt H.Milne Sgt T.Bashford Beaufighter X “H” F/O J.Hayden Sgt J.McMaster Two Beau’s were lost one each from 47(“H”) & 603 Sqns(LZ275)Does any one have some info on the fates of F/O Hayden & Sgt McMarter ? Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: Column 268. Memorial: ALAMEIN MEMORIAL but no record for a McMasters with 47 Sqdn at any date... No other casualty that day on Alamein Memorial either, so looks as if he was rescued. Hope of some help. |

603 Sqn lost LZ275 Nov. 10th (Bf 109s off Leros) and LZ242 Nov. 11th.

Hi Jochen,
I am researching my uncles loss in the Aegean Sea 13th December 1943, Maj.Ernst Dullberg claimed this kill. My uncle was a Sqdrn. Leader and was attached to RAAF 454 Sqdrn. flying a Baltimore on a reconnaissance flight. Do you have any further details of Maj. Dullberg's flight log of that day.I have read the book on my uncles sqdrn. Thank you for your assistance in advance. Paul . |

In my files only have ONE Beaufighter loss on 10-11-1943; LZ275 of 603 Sqn shot down by Bf 109 off Leros.
