Re: RAF aces in a day

Hi Chris,

Another pilot to achieve five victories in a day (actually in one sortie) was
S/L Charles C. Scherf, RAAF. He had recently completed a tour with 418 Sqn, RCAF, but kept coming back for more! His score for 16/5/44: He 111,
FW 190, He 177, Hs 123, Ju 86P (in that order); plus on the ground, another He 111, and on the water, an Do 18 damaged.
His aircraft was an Mosquito FB VI; the DSO was awarded soon after.
I'd like to know if any other pilot accounted for such a diverse 'bag' of e/a in the one sortie (?)

Cheers, Bruce
