I am Sgt G.Hawkins son Donald and further to your information we are sad and dismayed to read that Blenheim L9325 was shot down in error by a Hurricane fighter and not by enemy gunfire as we were made to believe?

Hi ,

I am Sgt G.Hawkins son Donald and from my archives regarding my father SGT G.Hawkins D.F.M 18 SQN RAF missing (presumed dead) on 21/5/1940
The DFM was presented on French airfield by Air Marshal A.S Barrett Chief of B.A.F in France.
The D.F.M was presented for gallantry and devotion to duty in execution of air operation .
Among the exploits mentioned was that he withstood intense anti aircraft fire over the Siegfried line
And elsewhere with coolness and alertness for the safe descent of his aircraft.
