Berlin-N means Nord or North, and in this book is written about 3 bombers, which attacked the city?
I have only made such assumption knowing the amount of bombs, which one bomber had carried inside.

BTW
Admiral Kuznietzov's memories are very good in general political overview (bacground to whole preparation), but have many errors if you are interested in details of this operation, as memories.

Re: Soviets attacks on Berlin VIII-IX 1941?

Hello Mirek
Yes WM thought on 8 Aug 41 that there had been 3 probably Soviet bombers over Berlin-N, so it stands in the text. See exact places of bomb hits in my message #12.

Re: Soviets attacks on Berlin VIII-IX 1941?

Thank Juha too
BTW is there any in this book next losses done by Soviets? They had done next 9 missions, so some next effect should be???

Crews had reported about some hits among Berlin's buildings.

Re: Soviets attacks on Berlin VIII-IX 1941?

Hello Mirek
the volumes are a part of the reading room collection of the library of our military academy, and I don’t have now time to visit there to consult them. A couple decades ago I got copies on a few pages of that volume, mainly on those which cover the 7./8.8.1941 attack.

Only other info from the book I have
There were bomb damages around Guben.

Re: Soviets attacks on Berlin VIII-IX 1941?

Hi Juha
Nice but something strange data about Soviet attack on Berlin?

There were following dates of Soviet air attacks

1. 7/8.08,
2. 8/9.08,
3. 11/12.08
4. 15/16.08
5. 18/19.08

plus 4 more.

From the third attack Soviet had used aditional DBA's bombers of 40 DBAD - next 12 DB-3 and DB-3F had landed on Aste airfield. On the night 11/12.08 such bombers were despached against Berlin too.

Bombers from 1. MTA had attacked other target, not Berlin this night.

Second strange, but only the first night Soviet had reported a loss of one bomber crew and up to 15/16.08 they did not recored any more own losses including DBA unit too.

Regards,
mirekw

Re: Soviets attacks on Berlin VIII-IX 1941?

I have just forgotten but on 10/11.08 was done other, rather tragic attak of TB-7 and Yer-2 of 432. TBAP and 420. DBAP. According Soviets only 4 TB-7 and 2 Yer-2 had got over Berlin. Crews had took off near Leningrad.
