Re: Losses and claims Me 109s over Białystok on 22.06.41

The only other thing I could find comes from a mention in Solonin's second book : "two Me-110 squadrons of SKG-210 also absolutely knocked around Zambrow (between Tarnovo and high-Mazowiecki), a "Messerschmitt" JG-27 squadron shot down near Knyshina (30 km north of Bialystok)"

Mirek,
What's your take on Karl-Gottfried Nordmann's claim on the 22Jun41 10:10 W of Kobryn of an I-153. Christer Bergstroem believes it was deputy AE co. Lt. Petr Sergeevich Ryabtsev of the 123 IAP who bailed out.
I do not belive in most information given in both Bergstroem book's about Barbarossa. Both have plany of false and wrong information, wrong data etc.

Probably, Nordmann's victims was major Surin, the commander of 123. IAP, which was killed during landing about 11.00 or little later after Moscow's time. It could better fit to this claims. Surin had died in his I-153 during landing.

Ryabtsev had done a taran over Brześć a few hours earlier, had made a jump over the town, survived it and later returned to the unit, if right rember.

Regards,
mw

So it's safe to say that Nordmann's victim was at least an I-153 from the 123 IAP that day. If it was only possible to determine how many of the SB that he really shot down on the 22Jun41. I followed some of his victories after that day in 1941 and he seemed to have settled into making steady claims especially against bombers.

Re: Losses and claims Me 109s over Białystok on 22.06.41

There are two parts of M. Timin articles printed in Russia in Aviapark in 2010 no 2 and 3, where it is possible to find exace losses of Soviet bomber forces on 22.06.41.

Next days, after 22.06., LW pilots had met with many Soviet bombers due to destruction of Soviet fighter forces (army IAPs) on the first days.
Next Soviet could not resolved coordination between fighter and bomber forces in these days on Western Front.

Soviet did use frontal and long range aviation to bomb German land units without own fighter protection. So the lossses of Soviet bomber forces were quite high in these mission and the victory list of LW's pilots very impressive and long, but of course overclaimed too.
