Re: Luftwaffe im Focus no.7, page 23, photo 33
hi David here is the one i state as the fourth one, which is finally very probably the same as the unpainted one on the color photo and very probably in the W.Nr. 300... serie with white? nose (not visible on the scanned wing part but visible on the original photo) and white? compartiment rear of the canopy (Simon 300... are from Bernburg and 310... from Mittelwerk and late 120... got darker nose )

Hello Olivier,
my source comes from "Arbeitskreis Junkerswerke und Fliegerhorst Bernburg". Junkers Werkpilot Heinrich Osterwald flew 8 He 162 that were built in Bernburg. All the Werknumbers in his Flugbuch start with 310xxx and not with 300xxx. Maybe possible that the pilot make a mistake? As Werkspilot? I don't think so! Cheers, Simon |

Thanks Simon !
Very very interesting your last comments! Even more if i quote one of your reply in the other tread about Leck's He 162: "April 1st 1945 W.Nr. 310018 should be flown by Uffz. Dobrat from Bernburg to Unterschlauenbach... (source Eric Mombeek, Reichsverteidigung Die Geschichte des Jagdgeschwaders 1 "Oesau")" So i dig a little... W.Green 1976, E.Brown 1977, A.Price, >> nothing Smith & Creeck (monogram close-up 1986) >> are probably among the first who offer us a W.Nr ranging factory by factory and wrongly stated 300001-300027 for Junker Bernburg and 310001-310018 for Mittelwerke/Nordhausen Then the error was repeated (D.Myhra, M.Griehl, MBI monography...) Finally the error is corrected by J.C.Mermet, 2002: "W.Nr. were in the 300... range for Mittelwerke and in the 310... range for the Junker factory" It's always amazing to see how wanting to correct what was though to be an evident typo finaly make another trust appear ![]() Time to correct personnal notes and main sources books ![]() Olivier Last edited by O.Menu; 2nd December 2005 at 02:34. |

Hi Olivier!
If it's really a mistake (I'll try to contact sombody of the "Arbeitskreis Junkerswerke und Fliegerhorst Bernburg") the first who made it was Heinz Nowarra or Alfred Hiller. Both published a booklet about the He 162 in the year 1984. Possible that the planes that were built by Mittelwerke, were completed in Bernburg? So the 310xxx werknumbers in the flight book from a Junkers werkpilot? I don't know. Why is no 300xxx listing in the JG1 Maschines. as we know they got some from Bernburg production. Maybe Junkers changed the Werknumber 300xxx to 310xxx because the Ju 388 also started with 300xxx? Many questions! I hope I can answer some after talking to the guys of "Arbeitskreis Junkerswerke und Fliegerhorst Bernburg" Nice greetings from Vienna, Simon PS: Olivier, could you maybe update your Leck list? |

Olivier!
Have got really short answer about the Werknumbers of the production in Bernburg: Die 310.... sind belegte Bernburger W-Nr. . Cheers, Simon |

AltaVista translate as:
The 310.... is occupied Bernburger w-No.. The flugbuch of flight captain putting cock and Schierge are present! In the photos of the w-NR. 310001 is beautiful that to see. Trunks originate definitely from the pit Westeregeln(im report to the Americans occupied). |

I seem to recall reading, long ago, that the Mittelwedrk He 162 production was done by, or under the supervision of, Junkers. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If true, it might explan the flight book entries.
