I was quoting Cajus Bekker," Luftwaffe war diaries". Who knows what he was referring to, as he did not name sources nor add foot notes in his book.

Re: Luftwaffe Recon Bombers

Hello guys,

I would like to complete some Hungarian details about Luftwaffe Recon Bombers topic:

1th Hungarian Long Range Reccon Squadron from Poltava middle of March 1943 sometime did bombing attack against Russian targets.
János A. Peterdi Squadron leader wrote the following:
„In this time we took bombs to Ju-88 recon plane, 2ps 250kg or 1ps 500kg. The planes were not equipped bomb optical sights, we had to bombing very primitive, and the result were also said to be modest.
Particulary Capt. Zoltán Jakab and his crew achieved excellent results. Zoltán Jakab originaly was bombing pilot, and he know much about his profession. The planes equiped 2-3 camera and was not so difficult evaluating results. All bombing was taken also by camera at the same time.
Zoltan Jakab was once target and bombed Fatesh railway station (I don not find the exactly punctually russian place name) and the two piece of 250kg bomb found exactly hit a house on the block. Which was completely destroyed. In addition, Zoltán Jakab flew out across the station, not the length”..

Best regards,

Balazs
